Sultan Iskandar Marine Park

Product Description

Located in the southeastern waters of Peninsular Malaysia, the Seribuat archipelago has some of the most beautiful sandy beaches and crystal clear water. All the islands located in the waters of Johor are protected under the management of Sultan Iskandar Marine Park. The Seribuat Islands are located in the coastal waters of Mersing, Consisting of 41 islands which are divided into five main clusters; namely Pulau Tinggi, Pulau Sibu, Pulau Besar, Pulau Aur and Pulau Pemanggil.

Within a short boat ride from the mainland, most of the big islands are inhabited by traditional local Malay fishing communities, who have been here since ancient times when ferocious pirates roamed the seas. Pirates have long been eradicated and the islands now have various guest houses and resorts that suit the needs of local and foreign tourists.

Relaxing by the beach, swimming in the crystal clear water and doing water sports are precious, beneath the roar of the waves lie healthy and beautiful coral reefs with a variety of life forms waiting to be explored, while deep sea fishing trips are the aspiration of a brave angler

Ecologically, these islands have a unique combination of flora and fauna including original, endemic and rare species that are globally endangered – both on land and underwater. Forming part of the Mersing Geopark, these islands also have a unique geological heritage. 248 million year old lava rock formations can be found in certain places, such as in the southeast part of Sibu Island
