Product Description
Masjid Bandar Pontian, also known as Pontian Town Mosque, holds a unique place in the hearts of its community. Its foundation on 1 Muharram 1356 Hijri, equivalent to March 14, 1937 AD, marked the beginning of a sacred journey. Officially opened to the public in Sha’ban 1357 Hijri, or September 25, 1938 AD, by the Regent of Johor, the late Sultan Ismail, this mosque is a historical and spiritual landmark.
Situated in Pontian Kecil, Pontian, with the picturesque backdrop of the Melaka Strait, the mosque’s location enhances its beauty and ambiance. The mosque’s architectural style is reminiscent of Middle Eastern mosques, featuring a domed minaret that serves as a prominent symbol. The entire structure is crafted from white and blue-painted concrete, with a golden-hued dome atop the minaret, symbolizing the steadfastness of Islamic faith.
One of the mosque’s standout features is its wooden pulpit (mimbar). Rows of windows on either side of the mosque dominate its interior, allowing natural light and fresh air to grace the space. Masjid Bandar Pontian is not only a place of worship but a work of art and a source of spiritual enlightenment for its community, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.
