Masjid An-Nur in Bandar Pasir Gudang is a splendid testament to both faith and community development. Its construction journey commenced in 1989, with a budget of RM 3.5 million, and the mosque was fully operational by 1991. This magnificent structure has the capacity to accommodate up to 1,300 worshippers at any given time. It was the first mosque established in Pasir Gudang by Johor Corporation, under the jurisdiction of PBT Pasir Gudang, constructed on a vast 14.8-acre site, with the mosque building itself covering an area of 900 square meters.
Initially, a multipurpose hall capable of holding 300 individuals was constructed within the mosque’s premises to facilitate various religious activities such as lectures, religious courses, and Islamic studies classes, involving the entire Pasir Gudang Muslim community. However, the hall has since been repurposed as the site for Hospital Waqaf An-Nur Pasir Gudang.
Notably, Masjid An-Nur Bandar Pasir Gudang received the Landscape Beautiful Yard Award for the state of Johor in the years 1993, 1994, 1997, and 2001 in the Mosque category. This recognition underscores the mosque’s not only its spiritual significance but also its commitment to creating a beautiful and harmonious environment for the local community.
