Johor Zoo located in Johor Bahru. It houses over 100 species of animals, featured in 28 different exhibits. Visitors can see creatures such as macaws, Indian peafowls, great white pelicans, storks, turtles, tortoises, ostriches, emus, southern cassowaries, chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, Asian elephants, dromedary camels, chital deer, mousedeer, Malayan tapirs, king cobras, raccoons, Malayan porcupines, rhinoceros hornbills, Celebes crested macaques, marmosets, squirrel monkeys, brown capuchins, macaques, hippos, saltwater crocodiles, pythons, iguanas, civets, binturongs, leopard cats, Asian small-clawed otters, white-handed gibbons, sambar deer, gaurs, flamingos, horses, sun bears, African lions, and Malayan tigers. The zoo, located just 1 km from the city center, is the only one managed by a state government in Malaysia.
